  4. SG4. Dill claims his stepfather beat and starved him and locked and chained him in the basement. The real reason he ran away was because his parents were not giving him any attention. They would buy him whatever he wanted but would tell him to go play with that toy we bought you; his parents did not want to be bothered.

  5. #4 Dill claims that he ran away from home because his parents ignored him and once they bought him a new toy they just told him to play by himself. The real reason that he ran away from home is because his father left him in the basement, beat him and starved him.

  6. SG 4: The reason Dill said ran away from home was because his mother and father didn't notice him and didn't want him there. The real reason was that Dill's father starved him, beat him, and tied him to chains in the basement. The only way he got food was that he got tossed bread everyday, so he ran away.

  16. REPLY TO KAITLYN G.: SG3 After they find Dill, they question him on why they left. Dill doesn't want to go home, however Jem feels the urge to tell Atticus. Dill ran away from home all the way to Maycomb, so it's not safe for Dill's mom to not know where he is. So Jem tells Atticus that they find him under the bed. Atticus lets Dill's guardian know. Dill is then allowed to sleepover.

  18. SG1. The people in Maycomb treat Atticus and the children very meanly. They always call them names such as ''nigger lover''. Atticus had to go to the county jail and make sure they don't hurt Tom Robinson. The people in Maycomb think that Atticus disgraced them because he's defending a Negro. But the African Americans respect him.
