  1. SG6 Atticus asks Mr. Ewell to write his name to discover if he's left-handed, right-handed, or ambidextrous. This is essential to the case because Mayella's attacker is supposedly left-handed.

Scout thought that Jem thought they had won even though Tom Robinson could be left handed and the trial wasn't over but he had thought they had already won.

  6. SG6- Atticus asks Ewell to write his name to see what hand he writes with. Mayella had a black eye and said Tom Robinson had punched her. Since she was punched on the right side of the face a left handed person would have been the one to punch her. Ewell was left handed.

  8. SG3. The Ewells are very filthy people. Bob Ewell, the father, is an alcoholic and is always drinking. The oldest daughter is Mayella. She is nineteen and a half years old. She is a very lonely, and is said to have gotten raped by Tom Robinson. The younger siblings only go to school the first day, so no one would bother them. They live behind the local dumpster. They are always dirty, and never clean people.

  10. sg6. atticus has Mr. ewell write his name to find out which hand he writes with. this also helps build the case that mr. Ewell beat up maywell. If you are standing in front of someone and you punch with your left hand you would hit them on the right side of the face. And since Tom was cripple with his left arm it would be impossible for him to beat her up.

  11. SG2: Mayella was apparently horribly injured on the day that she was raped. It was stated that she got a black eye on her right eye and all around her neck was bruised. She was also harshly bruised on her arms and the rest of her body was beaten up. With all this said, Atticus was still determined to trap them into getting Mr. Heck Tate to provide false information about the Tom Robinson case and to prove Tom innocent.

  12. Reply to Alyssa. Along with what you said Mayella also had been choked and beaten that's why she has marks all on her neck and brushes all over.
